RPA for energy and industrial automation sector

A global enterprise from the energy and industrial automation sector, employing a total of nearly 150,000 people, needed an RPA-based solution that would allow for the efficient analysis of accounting documents. The automated process was used to verify the status of invoices and transfer the collected information to people responsible for verifying it and to recipients. The list of documents for verification is provided by the person responsible in the form of an Excel file, together with the data required to search for the invoice in the accounting system. Automation with an RPA robot facilitated the processing of approx. 8000 invoices per month.

RPA for banking sector

One of the big European banks has automated the process of verifying if a given customer is able to pay off their mortgage and checking the status of the loan. Previously, consultants employed by the bank were involved in this laborious task.

The process involved five web and desktop systems data analyses. The consultants checked e.g. the value of the property at a given time, as well as incomes and charges on the account.

Although the data was subject to separate logic and complex calculations before entering each of the tabs, the data accuracy was 100%. The time taken to process one file amounts to several minutes.

Within 3 months, a software robot was created to collect the required data, analyze it and generate a report.

Nine such robots were launched, working simultaneously 24 hours a day and achieving efficiency equal to the work of 20 people

What is Robotic Process Automation?

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a technology used for partial or entire automation of business processes. It is based on software – software robots which can perform all an employee’s repetitive and multi-series tasks.

Robots in RPA technology

Robots used in Robotic Process Automation are programs, so-called virtual employees, which simulate the work of a human. They operate on the user interface (GUI), performing programmed tasks analogically to the way a human does them. Unlike traditional automation tools such as BPMS (Business Process Management Suite) tools, RPA robots do not require modification in information systems.

RPA environments and technologies

RPA environments are used to create Robotic Process Automation robots (e.g. Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere), which are used to design the logic of the process. This logic includes all tasks that can be automated with the use of a robot, e.g. logging into the application, downloading data and performing calculations. RPA tools that require very complex operations or calculations are also created based on external applications and scripts, e.g. written in C# language.
